Success, discipline and perseverance took center stage on Friday as Saltibus Combined School hosted its annual Awards Ceremony under the theme “From Effort to Excellence: Honouring Success and Embracing Growth.”

Reflecting on the event, Parliamentary Representative for Chosieul, Hon Keithson Charles described the ceremony as a powerful reminder that achievement is earned through dedication and consistency, echoing the school’s long-standing motto: “Success is the Product of Hard Work.”

Charles said he was honoured to join students, parents and faculty for the ceremony, praising the school community for fostering an environment where discipline and joy go hand in hand.

“I must extend a heartfelt thank you to Principal Ms. Tessa Osman and her incredible staff for the invitation,” he stated. “The atmosphere of discipline and joy you have cultivated at Saltibus Combined is truly commendable.”

A highlight of the ceremony was the contribution of guest speaker Malachai Bondiemaitre, whose address and personal achievements resonated strongly with students and parents alike. Charles noted that Bondiemaitre exemplified excellence in action, not only through his words but through his accomplishments.

He publicly congratulated Bondiemaitre on being an awardee at the SLUDTERA Literary Arts Awards, following his success in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition.

“Malachai is not just a powerful speaker; he is a shining example of what our youth can achieve,” Charles said. “Your creativity and dedication are an inspiration.”

Addressing the wider student body of Saltibus Combined School, Charles encouraged students to see Bondiemaitre’s success as proof that their voices matter and that hard work does not go unnoticed.

“To the students of Saltibus Combined: look at him and know that your voice matters, and your hard work will be recognized,” he stated.

The ceremony celebrated academic excellence, personal growth and perseverance, reinforcing the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded students. As Charles concluded, the event underscored a simple but powerful truth: “We are building a future where effort truly leads to excellence.”
