Venezuela Seeks Proof of Life of President Maduro After U.S. Bombing Attack, Ambassador Says

Venezuelan authorities are seeking proof of life of President Nicolás Maduro following a bombing attack carried out by the United States in the early hours of Saturday, January 3, according to Venezuela’s Ambassador to Saint Lucia, Leiff Escanola.

Speaking with Saint Lucia Daily Post, Ambassador Escanola said Venezuelan officials had not yet received confirmed information on the whereabouts or condition of President Maduro, his wife, or Vice President Delcy Rodríguez in the immediate aftermath of the attack.

“The United States is doing everything without any support from anybody, and we are still looking for international pronouncements against this attack in Venezuela,” Escanola stated. “Right now we don’t have any information about President Maduro and his wife, nor any information from our Vice President Delcy Rodríguez. We have denounced this attack and we are looking for proof of life of our

president.”

According to the ambassador, the U.S. strikes targeted multiple locations in Caracas, resulting in damage to infrastructure in areas where both civilians and military personnel were present. While specific figures on casualties and damage were not immediately available, Escanola said the situation remains deeply concerning.

“We don’t have specific numbers, but they attacked different places in Caracas, and of course there are civilians around those areas, as well as military personnel,” she said.

The attack follows weeks of escalating tensions between Washington and Caracas, marked by heightened rhetoric, increased U.S. military activity in the region, and accusations by U.S. officials that Venezuela continues to pose a threat to regional stability. The Venezuelan government has consistently rejected those claims, accusing the United States of aggression and interference in its internal affairs.

Ambassador Escanola condemned the bombing as a unilateral act, arguing that it violates international law and further destabilizes the region. He called on the international community to speak out against the attack and to respect Venezuela’s sovereignty.

“We are denouncing this aggression and calling for the international community to take a clear position,” she added.

As of press time, there has been no official confirmation from Venezuelan authorities regarding casualties, the extent of the damage, or the condition of senior government officials. The situation remains fluid as diplomatic and security developments continue to unfold.
