Deglo Landfill Fire Burns Into Second Day Despite Firefighting Efforts

Fire has been raging at the Deglo for more than 24 hours. The Saint Lucia Fire Service has confirmed that the department received the distress call at 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

A source at the Saint Lucia Fire Service confirmed that crews have been on site since the initial distress call, working to contain the blaze. Despite their intervention, the fire has proven difficult to extinguish, with reports of possible escalation and heavy smoke visible across surrounding communities.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further spread. 

The Deglo landfill is a major dump site in Saint Lucia.
