Prime Minister Pledges Universal Early Childhood Education Under Next SLP Government

Must Read

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has pledged that a re-elected Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) government will guarantee free early childhood education for every child on the island.

Addressing supporters at a political launch in Odsan on Sunday, Pierre outlined the policy as part of his party’s vision for the next term, declaring that no child should be left behind.

“I want to tell you that after the next election, we will guarantee free early childhood education for every child born in Saint Lucia. Every child will have the opportunity to go to an early childhood institution so that no one is denied a place in society. That is our promise,” Pierre said to loud applause.

The Prime Minister pointed to his government’s record over the past four years, pointing to progress in social programs, education, and youth opportunities.

He framed universal early childhood education as the next bold step in empowering future generations.

Pierre also commended Senator Lisa Jawahir, the SLP’s newly launched candidate for Castries South East, praising her courage to enter frontline politics despite what he described as “character attacks and lies” from opponents.

“The very fact that we can get a young lady like Lisa to make the sacrifice, to stand up against all the nastiness from the other side, shows her strength. She has the courage to say, ‘I will stand for progress, I will run for the Saint Lucia Labour Party, and I will win Castries South East,’” Pierre declared.

The SLP leader urged supporters to remain focused on the party’s record and vision, saying his government is determined to expand opportunities for all citizens.
