Second Victim in Bexon Shooting Succumbs to Injuries

Must Read

The second victim of a shooting incident in Bexon last Thursday has died. The deceased, identified as a man popularly known as Smiley, succumbed to injuries on Sunday, September 21. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the face while in an abandoned house when gunmen opened fire.

The same incident claimed the life of 24-year-old Rio Maximin, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal shooting was among a series of violent incidents recorded on the island last week. Three bodies were discovered in a vehicle in Cannelles, Vieux Fort, along with another charred body in the same area. Over the weekend, two men were killed in separate gun attacks in Dennery.

The recent spate of homicides has pushed the island’s murder count higher and drawn urgent responses from government officials. Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ernest Hilaire and Minister for Crime Prevention Jeremiah Norbert have both urged citizens to take an active role in curbing crime.

The ministers appealed to the public to support law enforcement efforts by reporting criminal activity, refraining from protecting or facilitating offenders, and fostering safer communities across Saint Lucia.

Police investigations into the recent killings are ongoing.
