Honouring the legacy of compassion and service embodied by Botham Jean, the Botham Jean Foundation will host its annual Red Tie Gala on September 28th at the Sandals Grande Resort. The fundraising event supports the Foundation’s community outreach and youth development initiatives in Saint Lucia and abroad.
Foundation Director Dr. Allison Jean explained the importance of the event.
“In order to have that outreach to the community, we have to engage in fundraising. The Botham Jean Red Gala is our main fundraising event where we seek to get funds so that we can be able to do the activities for the year.”
Jean, who founded the organisation after the tragic loss of her son, stressed the Foundation’s commitment to helping others through meaningful programmes.
“Having lost a child myself, I empathise with the other mothers. I can associate with them and so I know that they need that kind of support continuously to deal with the pain of losing that child,” she said.
Over the past year, the Foundation has delivered training programmes in cosmetology, bread-making, digital media, and life skills, equipping students with tools for personal and professional growth.
As part of this year’s activities, the Foundation is also spearheading a health initiative.
“We have a team of physicians who are going to be coming from the United States and they will be joined with local practitioners, doing health checks for all the residents at St. Lucie’s Home,” Jean revealed.
The outreach will take place on Friday, September 26th, accompanied by donations of adult care supplies.
