Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Leslie Land–Saint Lucia’s Homicide Count Rises to 40

Must Read

Police have launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in Leslie Land, Castries, early Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Felix “Chucky” Leonce, a resident of the same community. According to reports, residents of the area reported hearing gunfire shortly after midnight, prompting an early morning police response.

Officers arrived on the scene to find Leonce’s lifeless body, and the area has since been cordoned off as investigators search for clues. No motive has been established at this time, and police have not disclosed whether any suspects have been identified or apprehended.

The killing marks Saint Lucia’s 40th homicide for the year.

Last week, Police Commissioner Verne Garde disclosed that a significant number of homicide victims in 2025 had prior interactions with law enforcement and were known for “nefarious activities.” In response to the ongoing surge in violent crime, the RSLPF has pledged to intensify operations targeting criminal networks across the island.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to help with the investigation.

More updates will follow as the investigation develops.
