(Cricket West Indies – CWI) is actively monitoring the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, raising concerns for the safety of regional players currently competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, CWI confirmed that it is in “active communication with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and our players currently involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL).”
CWI also noted it had engaged the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA), its key strategic partner, to coordinate support and contingency plans. “We have also engaged our strategic partner, West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA), to coordinate and ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all West Indies players and support personnel in the region,” the board stated.
The regional governing body emphasized that the safety of its players remains paramount. “The welfare of our people remains our highest priority,” the statement affirmed.
CWI further noted that it continues to receive “regular updates through diplomatic, governmental, and cricketing channels” and assured it “stands ready to offer assistance where necessary.”
While urging calm, the board reiterated its commitment to the broader ideals of the game: “We remain committed to the spirit of international cricket and to supporting our players through this uncertain and sensitive period.”
