Saint Lucia Daily Post – March 12, 2025

An American Airlines flight bound for Miami was forced to make an emergency return to Savannah, Georgia, after a passenger’s violent outburst left airline crew members injured.

According to reports, 31-year-old Delange Augustin exhibited erratic behavior mid-flight, claiming that demonic spirits had boarded the aircraft with him. In an attempt to ward off these perceived threats, Augustin swallowed rosary beads before launching a violent attack on flight attendants.

The situation escalated when Augustin kicked a crew member in the chest, sending her flying across the aisle into a window. He then turned on another flight attendant before being subdued by fellow passengers.

Authorities later revealed that Augustin and his sister, Medjina Augustin, were traveling to Haiti, allegedly seeking refuge from spiritual attacks they believed they were experiencing. The flight, carrying eight passengers, landed safely back in Savannah, where Augustin was taken into custody by local law enforcement. He now faces charges including misdemeanor battery and criminal property damage.

American Airlines commended its crew for their swift response and thanked passengers for their patience during the ordeal.
