Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia – A prolonged industrial dispute between the National Workers Union (NWU) and Goddard Catering Group (GCG) has been resolved following the intervention of Labour Commissioner Joseph Joseph. After weeks of negotiations, Commissioner Joseph recommended a 15% general wage increase, which has now been accepted by both parties.
The agreement ensures that workers will receive the increase in increments of 5% per year over the next three years. In addition, employees based at GCG’s airline operations in Vieux Fort will benefit from back pay, increased meal allowances, and a shift allowance for abnormal working hours.
With the dispute settled, the Department of Labour is now finalizing arrangements to implement the agreed-upon terms. This resolution marks a significant achievement in labor relations, ensuring improved conditions for the affected workers while maintaining industrial harmony.
