Castries, Saint Lucia – In a major boost to Saint Lucia’s emergency response capabilities, the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), through its Pharmaceutical Procurement Unit, has donated ten Emergency Medical Packs to the Red Cross of Saint Lucia and the Saint Lucia Athletic Association. This vital contribution was made possible through the humanitarian efforts of Direct Relief, a global organization dedicated to providing aid in times of crisis.
The donation is part of an ongoing partnership between the OECS and Direct Relief, aimed at strengthening health and disaster preparedness across the region. In addition to the Red Cross and the Athletic Association, several key institutions in Saint Lucia—including the Fire Service, Police Force, Ministry of Health, elderly care homes, and secondary schools in eight districts—will benefit from the initiative.
Direct Relief has played a critical role in supporting OECS Member States during hurricanes and other emergencies since 2019, providing much-needed medical aid and disaster relief supplies. This latest donation underscores the OECS Commission’s commitment to building resilient communities by ensuring emergency supplies are readily available where they are most needed.
