Man Is Shot Dead in Marchand

A man was gunned down near one of Saint Lucia’s busiest sporting venues on Sunday night, as police continue to grapple with violent crime.

The fatal shooting occurred around 10:15 p.m. near the entrance to Mindoo Phillip Park prompting a response from officers attached to the Marchand Police Station.

When police arrived, they discovered a man lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds to the head, abdomen and thigh. He was rushed by ambulance to the Owen King EU Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner just minutes later at 10:24 p.m.

The deceased has been identified as Jordon Lansiquot of Millet, Anse La Raye.

The circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear, and investigators have launched a homicide investigation.
