St. Lucia Boxing Association Applauds Ministry for Successful National Sports Awards Ceremony

The St. Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) has extended congratulations to the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports following the successful staging of the 2025 National Sports Awards.

In a statement issued this week, the SLBA described the annual ceremony as a cornerstone of Saint Lucia’s sporting calendar, highlighting the dedication, discipline and excellence of athletes, coaches and sporting organizations across the island.

The Association commended the Ministry for its continued commitment to recognizing sporting achievement and fostering national pride through the prestigious awards platform.

SLBA President David Christopher praised the professionalism and consistency demonstrated in hosting the event. “On behalf of the St. Lucia Boxing Association, I would like to commend the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports for hosting another exceptional National Sports Awards ceremony. The event continues to highlight the remarkable talent within our sporting community and provides well-deserved recognition to those who dedicate themselves to excellence. We are proud to be part of a sporting fraternity that continues to raise the bar year after year,” Christopher stated.

The SLBA also congratulated all nominees and award recipients recognized for their achievements during the year.

National boxer and 2025 Senior Male Athlete of the Year nominee, John Didier, expressed appreciation for the camaraderie displayed among athletes. “It is truly an honor to be recognized among such outstanding athletes. I want to congratulate all my fellow nominees and the overall winners, particularly Akeem Auguste, for their hard work and commitment to their respective disciplines. Each of us plays an important role in elevating sports in Saint Lucia, and together we continue to inspire the next generation,” Didier said.

The SLBA reaffirmed its commitment to the development of boxing and the broader advancement of sport in Saint Lucia, noting that collaboration with the Ministry remains key to building a stronger and more competitive sporting nation.

The National Sports Awards continues to serve as a celebration of excellence, recognizing individuals and organizations whose performances have contributed significantly to the growth of sport locally and regionally.
