A Bexon man has been identified as the island’s latest homicide victim, following a fatal shooting in Crownlands, Bexon, on Saturday, November 8th. The deceased has been named as 23-year-old Jabez Edward, a resident of the community.
According to reports, Edward sustained three gunshot wounds after being approached and fired upon by an unknown assailant at about 6:30pm. Emergency services were alerted, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Police have confirmed that no arrests have yet been made, but say an active investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing and to apprehend those responsible.
Over the weekend, a video circulated on social media showing Edward brandishing what appears to be a firearm during a confrontation with another individual. At this time, authorities have not confirmed whether the altercation depicted in the video is connected to the shooting.
The incident has once again raised concerns among residents about escalating gun violence in communities across the island. Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact the Criminal Investigations Department or the nearest police station.
