Must Read

The stage is set, the countdown is on, and Team Saint Lucia is ready to make its mark at the World Athletics Championships, scheduled for September 13–21, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. With hearts full of pride and determination, the island’s top athletes are prepared to represent Saint Lucia on one of the world’s biggest sporting stages.

Leading the charge is Saint Lucia’s sprint sensation Julien Alfred (OLY), who will compete in the 100m and 200m events. Alfred, already a global name in athletics, will be joined by rising star Aasia Laurencin, who is set to challenge the world’s elite in the 100m Hurdles. Together, they embody Saint Lucia’s hopes, dreams, and competitive spirit as they prepare to face the fastest athletes on the planet.

Guiding the team is a powerhouse support network, including Team Leader Makeba Alcide, Coach Edrick Floreal, and SLAA President and Congress Delegate Dora Henry. Recognizing the demands of high-performance competition, the delegation will also have access to physiotherapy and mental coaching services to ensure the athletes are fully supported — both physically and mentally — on and off the track.

“Team Saint Lucia is energized, focused, and determined to proudly fly our island’s flag,” said SLAA President Dora Henry. “Julien and Aasia embody the heart and spirit of Saint Lucia, and we know they will give their all on the track. With the nation behind them, they are ready to shine.”

The St. Lucia Athletics Association (SLAA) has expressed gratitude to its partners and sponsors, including World Athletics, PUMA, and the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), whose unwavering support has made this global representation possible.

With the world watching and Saint Lucia’s athletes ready to compete among the best, the island eagerly anticipates what promises to be a defining moment in its athletics journey.
