WhatsApp Experiences Global Outage, Disrupting Messaging Services Worldwide

Must Read

WhatsApp, the widely-used messaging platform owned by Meta, faced a significant global outage on Saturday, leaving users across multiple regions unable to send messages or access the application.

Reports began surfacing around 5:30 PM Friday with users encountering issues on both the mobile app and WhatsApp Web. Downdetector, a real-time outage monitoring service, recorded a sharp increase in complaints. By 8:18 PM nearly 3,000 reports had been logged globally, with approximately 88% indicating problems with sending messages, 10% citing app-related issues, and 2% experiencing login difficulties.

The disruption has impacted users in India, the United States, and other countries. In India alone, over 9,000 complaints were registered. Many users turned to other social media platforms to confirm the issue, posting screenshots of undelivered messages and failed login attempts.

As of the time of reporting, Meta has not issued an official statement explaining the cause of the disruption or when full service will be restored. This marks the latest in a series of outages the platform has experienced in recent years, raising concerns over its reliability.

The Saint Lucia Daily Post will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more details emerge.
