The Ministry of Education has expressed unwavering support for five-year-old Bradley Labadie, a student of Delcer Combined School, who was among four victims of a shocking chopping attack in Industry, Choiseul last Friday. The horrifying incident has sparked national outrage, with education officials standing in solidarity with the young survivor and his family.

Minister of Education Shawn Edward visited Bradley at St. Jude Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries. Despite the ordeal, the minister noted that the child remained in remarkably good spirits. “I must say he was in very good spirits when I saw him. His mother was at his bedside, and I had the chance to speak with him and bring him a toy. Given the circumstances, he is coping well,” Edward shared.

Condemning the brutal attack, Edward emphasized the Ministry of Education’s firm stance against violence, particularly when it involves innocent children. He called for swift justice, stating, “We emphatically denounce such acts. Violence, especially against our children, has no place in our society. I trust that law enforcement will act swiftly to bring the perpetrator to justice.”

In response to the tragedy, the Ministry has mobilized a support network to assist Bradley and his family. A high-level team, including Chief Education Officer Dr. Pauline Antoine Prosper, District Education Officer Clark Nicholas, and the principal of Delcer Combined School, has been actively engaged in providing guidance and resources during this difficult time.

Recognizing the broader emotional impact of the attack, the Ministry has also deployed counseling services to support students, teachers, and the affected community. “We will not remain silent. Our priority is ensuring that Bradley, his school, and the wider community receive the necessary psychological and emotional support to navigate this traumatic event,” Edward affirmed.

As the nation rallies behind young Bradley, the Ministry of Education remains committed to advocating for a safer learning environment, reinforcing the urgent need to protect children from violence, and ensuring that those responsible face the full force of the law.
