Home grown sensation and West Indies white ball player Ackeem Auguste will be one of the main attractions tonight as the St. Lucia Kings look to end their 5 match home stint on a high against the Guyana Amazon Warriors at 7pm local time at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. The Kings will then close their home fixtures against the Jamaica Kingsmen on Friday August 21, 2026 at the same time and venue.
Auguste enters the contest with momentum after top scoring for the St. Lucia Kings with a blistering 63 off 34 balls, including 3 fours and 6 sixes, in a losing effort against the Barbados Tridents in their last outing. With the Kings still searching for consistency with the bat, the Saint Lucian faithful will hope Auguste can again provide the spark in front of a home crowd.
Tim Seifert’s arrival also gives the Kings a major boost. The New Zealander joins the squad after a superb showing in The Hundred, where he copped the Player of the finals award with a blistering 72 off 38 balls and was also named Player of the Tournament after scoring an aggregate of 394 runs at an average of 49.25.
The stage is set for a high-interest clash. One can argue that this is a home fixture for both teams due to the large contingent of Guyanese nationals living in Saint Lucia, making it the first matchup circled on the Kings home fixtures every season. The Kings have blown hot and cold in their first 4 fixtures this season, sitting 3rd in the table with a 2 wins and 2 losses record. However, a win tonight could see them head back to the top of the table, albeit they would have played 5 fixtures to date. Guyana on the other hand have only played 1 fixture on August 13th, comprehensively routing the Jamaica Kingsmen and currently sit 4th in the table behind the Kings but with the best NRR of any team in the league. The Kings all time record against the Warriors reads 11 wins, 17 losses and a no result from their 29 CPL matches.
The Kings will also have to navigate changes in personnel. The tournament leading wicket taker for the Kings in their 2024 title winning season, Noor Ahmad, misses the remainder of the season due to his No Objection Certificate (NOC) being revoked by the Afghanistan Cricket Board, while young prodigy Jewel Andrew is temporarily replaced by West Indies opening batter John Campbell due to injury. Meanwhile the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground will witness its 54th CPL match in tonight’s contest, with the St. Lucia Kings featuring in 46 of those with a 19 wins, 23 losses and 4 no results.
