Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North, Jeremiah Norbert, has reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructure development in the constituency following a tour of several ongoing projects, as the community prepares to host the second edition of Micoud Jazz.

Norbert visited a number of critical sites, including road works at Pointe Vierge, where upgrades are currently underway to improve access and enhance the overall transportation network within the area. The improvements come at a strategic time, with the constituency gearing up to welcome patrons and visitors for the highly anticipated cultural event.

Speaking during the tour, Norbert emphasized the importance of ensuring that infrastructure is in place to support both residents and upcoming activities. “We are very mindful that Micoud will once again be in the spotlight as we host the second edition of Micoud Jazz en Vierge. These road works at Pointe Vierge are part of a broader effort to ensure that the community is ready, not just for this event, but for long-term development. We want residents and visitors alike to experience safe, reliable access throughout the constituency,” Norbert stated.

The Parliamentary Representative also underscored that the ongoing works are part of a wider push to improve living conditions and stimulate economic activity in Micoud North.

In addition to the road rehabilitation, Norbert toured the Malgretoute Bridge, where rehabilitation and repair works are currently in progress. The bridge, a key piece of infrastructure for residents and commuters, has been identified as a priority due to its importance in maintaining connectivity within the community.

Further along the tour, attention was also given to drainage works along the Mon Repos Highway. The project is aimed at addressing long-standing concerns related to flooding and water management, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

Norbert noted that these interventions are critical in building resilience and protecting both public infrastructure and private property.

“These are not just routine works; they are essential interventions. The rehabilitation of the Malgretoute Bridge and the drainage improvements along the Mon Repos Highway speak directly to the needs of our people. We are addressing issues that have affected communities for years, particularly flooding and access. Our goal is to build infrastructure that is durable, climate-resilient, and capable of supporting the development we envision for Micoud North,” he said.

He added that the government remains focused on delivering tangible results across communities, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure that supports safety, economic growth, and national events such as Micoud Jazz.

The ongoing projects are expected to significantly improve mobility, reduce vulnerability to flooding, and enhance the overall readiness of Micoud North as it prepares to host one of its growing cultural showcases.
