The Jannou Credit Union has expanded its commitment to education by adding eight new students to its roster of scholarship and bursary recipients attending the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. The awards were presented during the company’s annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony, held at its head office in Castries. This year’s ceremony highlighted children of employees who excelled in the 2025 CSEC examinations.
Elsa Mathurin, President of Jannou Credit Union, explained the motivation behind the initiative, saying, “When parents and students don’t have to worry about how they pay for school, then they can concentrate on working hard towards achieving their goals. So that is what we want and we support them all the way. It’s not just about giving them the scholarship, but we hold their hand throughout the tenure of the scholarship period. So it feels good to help our members and their children succeed.”
Parents of the recipients expressed gratitude for the support. One parent shared, “I was very excited to get the news that I would be getting the support in order that my son move forward for further learning. And of course that would be motivation for him to keep on top always. It’s nice to know that there are institutions looking into this, not just that you have members, but you look into their welfare and give opportunities to assist them in ways like this.”
The initiative reflects Jannou Credit Union’s ongoing dedication to investing in the future of its members and the wider Saint Lucian community through education.
