St. Lucia Development Bank Hosts Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Must Read

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the St. Lucia Development Bank (SLDB) organized a breast cancer awareness walk on Sunday, bringing together staff, community members, and health advocates to stand in solidarity with those affected by the disease.

The walk, which started at the SLDB headquarters and concluded at Choc Beach, was designed to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives to breast cancer and to support those currently fighting the illness. Participants also used the event to promote healthy lifestyles and the importance of early detection.

Ministry of Health was on hand to provide educational materials and guidance, emphasizing that breast cancer also affects men, although at lower rates.

Practical tips on self-examination and early testing were also shared, highlighting the importance of awareness for the entire population.

Reflecting on the event, an SLDB spokesperson noted that while turnout could have been higher, those who participated were fully engaged, and the walk was considered a success for its first edition. The initiative was praised not only for raising awareness but also for fostering a sense of community and collective support among participants.

The bank encouraged residents to continue participating in health-focused activities and to prioritize regular screenings, emphasizing that such initiatives are vital for both awareness and prevention.
