PMD Launches Website to Enhance Transparency and Good Governance

Must Read

The Parastatal Monitoring Department (PMD), operating under the Office of the Prime Minister, has launched a new website designed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public engagement in Saint Lucia’s governance framework.

The initiative, which forms part of the department’s ongoing drive to improve communication with citizens, provides a centralized hub of information on the operations and oversight of the island’s more than 90 parastatal organizations. These statutory bodies,  including the National Insurance Corporation, Castries City Council, Youth Economy Agency, Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA), and the National Conservation Authority (NCA) play a pivotal role in delivering services, implementing government policies, and driving socio-economic development.

Accessible at pmd.govt.lc, the new platform features detailed profiles of parastatal entities, updates on key initiatives, relevant legislation, frequently asked questions, and insight into the department’s work. It also highlights milestones and achievements while offering the public a clearer understanding of how these entities operate.

Permanent Secretary of the PMD, Ms. Josette Maxwell-Dalsou, described the launch as a milestone in the department’s transparency efforts.

“This website empowers citizens and stakeholders with reliable, up-to-date information on the operations and mandates of Saint Lucia’s parastatal bodies. It reflects our continued efforts to foster a culture of transparency, strengthen oversight, and support the delivery of public services in an efficient and accountable manner,” she said.

Established on June 11, 2012, the PMD has been instrumental in ensuring that statutory bodies operate in line with national priorities while upholding good governance practices.

The public is encouraged to visit pmd.govt.lc to explore the resources and learn more about the department’s role in advancing transparency and accountability in Saint Lucia.
