Just one day after four people were discovered dead in Vieux Fort on Wednesday, the island has been rocked by yet another fatal shooting, this time in Bexon.
The Thursday, September 18th incident has left one man dead and another injured. The deceased has been identified as a young man popularly known as “Rio,” while the second victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to hospital after being shot in the face. Both men are believed to be residents of the Bexon community.
According to residents, the two men were in an abandoned house near the main Bexon Highway around 4 p.m. when gunmen approached on foot and opened fire. One resident told Saint Lucia Daily Post that the pair were “usually there” when the shooting occurred.
“Not just like that people coming to shoot you,” one individual remarked, speaking on condition of anonymity. Another community member noted, “This is not surprising,” alleging that the deceased was known to be involved in illegal activities.
Thursday’s attack follows Wednesday’s grisly discovery in Vieux Fort, where four individuals were found shot dead, intensifying concerns about escalating violence across the island.
