Residents of Patience, Micoud and surrounding areas will soon have access to two brand-new outdoor gyms, thanks to the efforts of Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North, Jeremiah Norbert. The facility, which will be open to the wider community, is designed to encourage healthier lifestyles and create more opportunities for residents to stay active.
Speaking at a site visit on Tuesday, Norbert emphasized the importance of such infrastructure in rural communities. “This outdoor gym is not just for the people of Patience, it is for everyone in the surrounding areas who want to live healthier lives,” he said. “We know how critical it is to fight lifestyle diseases, to stay fit, and to give people spaces where they can take control of their health. This gym is about investing in people and their well-being.”

The new gym features a range of equipment aimed at promoting physical fitness, and its outdoor setting makes it easily accessible for all age groups, including the differently abled.
In addition to the gym, Norbert also updated residents on the Patience Water Supply Project, which continues to move forward. The project is expected to improve water access for communities including La Pointe, Patience, Mon Repos, Praslin, Mamiku, and Lombard.
“This project has always been about people, families, students, and health centers, who deserve reliable access to water,” Norbert said. “It’s about restoring dignity where it has been lacking for too long.”
He reassured residents that while progress has taken longer than hoped, the work has never stopped. “Pipes are being laid, systems are being strengthened, and little by little, we are bringing this essential service back to our communities. This is not about pointing fingers, it’s about staying focused on solutions,” he added.
Norbert reaffirmed his pledge to keep residents informed on every step of the project’s progress. “You deserve to see the work being done on the issues that affect your daily lives. These projects take time, but they are materializing, and the work continues for you,” he concluded.
With the dual focus on health infrastructure through the new outdoor gym and essential services through the water project, the Micoud North MP says his priority remains ensuring that the people of Micoud North benefit from meaningful, lasting development.
Several infrastructure and community projects are currently underway in Micoud North, aimed at improving roads, recreational spaces, and public facilities.
Work has recommenced on the La Pointe Road, while construction will soon commence on the Volet Road. The Chatterhouse Road was recently completed, and progress continues on the St. Marie Road.
That’s according to Parliamentary Representative for the constituency, Hon. Jeremiah Norbert, who outlined a number of other works in progress.
“The Wenn Playing Field resurfacing project is also in motion, with lighting recently connected to enhance evening activities. Additionally, works are being carried out at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Mon Repos. Drainage works are taking place in Mon Repos, La Pointe, and Knockay Avenue. Works will also commence on the secondary road in Praslin in the coming days, and works continue on the Mon Repos Cemetery,” Norbert said.
He also highlighted ongoing support for community initiatives:
“I continue to make contributions to most of the summer programs held in the constituency this month, in addition to assisting approximately 400 students with back-to-school assistance. Other assistance includes support provided to both the Micoud and Mon Repos football teams, who are part of the Semi-Professional Football League, while physical works are presently happening on the Patience water improvement supply.”
Beyond infrastructure, social initiatives remain active throughout the year, including domino competitions, soccer ramas, and other community-engagement activities.
Norbert added that last week, meetings were held with fisheries officials and local fishers to discuss vending arrangements and the cleaning of stalls, with the aim of improving conditions for the fishing community.
He stressed the importance of these initiatives, stating:
“It is essential that our communities have strong infrastructure, including well-maintained roads, but equally important are the social programs that keep our people engaged and provide positive opportunities, especially for our youth.”
