Post-Mortem Confirms Drowning in Death of American Tourist Found in Water — Family Says Autopsy Was Against Their Wishes

Must Read

The results of a post-mortem on the body of an American tourist who had been reported missing in Saint Lucia have been released. According to the sister of the deceased, who has remained in close contact with the Saint Lucia Daily Post, the family did not consent to an autopsy — but the procedure was carried out nonetheless.

Thirty-seven-year-old Travis Andrew Wyant was discovered floating in the water along the shoreline at Rodney Bay around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 — a day after he was reported missing. Although a post-mortem was initially scheduled for later that afternoon, it was postponed due to delays at the Pathology Department of the Owen King EU Hospital (OKEU). The autopsy was eventually conducted on Thursday, July 10.

The examination determined that Wyant died from drowning. The pathologist confirmed there were no signs of trauma on his body that could have contributed to his death. However, the family remains deeply concerned — not only about the decision to proceed with the autopsy but also about the disappearance of Travis’s personal belongings.

His sister told the Daily Post that Travis was known to always wear a Rolex watch, which has not been recovered. Additionally, a suitcase he reportedly had with him on the night of his disappearance remains missing. “We’re heartbroken and frustrated,” she said. “There’s been no word on his watch or luggage — we just want answers.”

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) confirmed that multiple eyewitnesses have been interviewed, and investigations are ongoing. Authorities are working to piece together the final movements of Wyant and are appealing to the public for assistance.

Anyone with information that can aid the investigation is asked to contact the Gros Islet Police Station at 456-4061, the anonymous Crime Hotline at 555, or submit tips via the Crime Hotline App.

Stay with the Saint Lucia Daily Post for further updates on this developing story.
