The Department of Education, Innovation and Vocational Training wishes to update the public on the ongoing negotiations concerning the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programme offered by Formato Educativo Business School under the Organization of American States (OAS) scholarship initiative.
Over the past several months, the Department has been in active dialogue with the OAS and Formato Educativo to address concerns raised about the recognition of this EMBA programme. While discussions remain ongoing, the OAS has formally proposed the following remedial measures:
1. Tuition Refund
A full refund of tuition fees personally paid by students who completed the programme between 2022 and 2025. This refund would apply to all out-of-pocket contributions made by participants.
2. Academic Upgrade (“Top-Up”) Programme
The financing of an academic upgrade pathway through a partnership with the University of VitoriaGasteiz (EUNEIZ). This initiative would allow affected students to pursue an accredited, fully recognized degree from a reputable European university.
At a recent meeting held with student representatives, further clarification was requested regarding the proposed remedial measures. As a result, a meeting is being convened with the relevant authorities to determine the next steps and the most appropriate course of action to support affected students.
While discussions with the OAS and Formato Educativo continue, the Department will resume the verification of certificates issued by Formato Educativo Business School. The Saint Lucia National
Accreditation Council is also undertaking an equivalency assessment in accordance with the National Qualifications Framework.
