Body of Babonneau Fisherman Recovered After Suspected Drowning at La Tit Anse Beach

Grief has gripped the Babonneau community following the tragic death of 26-year-old McClean Steven of Chassin, who was swept away by strong waves while fishing at La Tit Anse Beach on Sunday night.

According to police, Steven encountered difficulties in the water around 10:00 p.m. on September 14 and was unable to regain control. A large-scale search operation was launched the following day involving the Police Marine Unit, Babonneau Police, relatives, and concerned community members. Despite their extensive efforts, his body was not located until Tuesday, September 16, when it was recovered around 11:00 a.m.

The body was transported to the Owen King EU Hospital, where a medical practitioner pronounced Steven dead. Authorities say the matter remains under investigation and a post-mortem examination will determine the exact cause of death.
