Law enforcement officials have disclosed that 50 kilograms of cocaine recovered during a police operation on July 3rd carries an estimated street value of EC $1.3 million.
The high-value seizure was the result of a joint anti-drug operation carried out by the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit (GNFU) North and South teams in Dennery Village and later at Ti Tous Beach. Acting on credible intelligence, officers launched the operation targeting suspected drug trafficking activity in the area.
After hours of surveillance and thorough searches, police discovered 45 bricks of suspected cocaine hidden in two large sacks. The drugs were subsequently weighed, sealed, labelled, and sent to the forensic lab for further analysis.
In a follow-up operation on July 4th, officers intercepted Quintin Taylor, also known as “Quincy,” during a snap vehicle check in the same area. He was found with 105 grams of cannabis resin and was arrested.
Taylor has since been charged with:
* Possession of Controlled Drugs
* Possession with Intent to Supply
He was granted bail and is scheduled to appear before the court.
Inspector Shervon Matthieu, who leads the GNFU, commended the successful outcome of the intelligence-led operation, reaffirming the unit’s commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks operating across the island. Investigations into the origin and intended destination of the cocaine are ongoing.
