Vieux Fort, St. Lucia — A moment of high-octane excitement at the annual Independence Bike Show in Vieux Fort turned into a scene of horror after a rider lost control and slammed into a guard rail, injuring several spectators, including a child.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as a terrifying crash that sent people scrambling for safety. The rider, whose identity has not been disclosed, appeared to lose control while performing a stunt, causing the bike to veer off course and crash into the crowd.
Emergency services responded swiftly, transporting the injured to St. Jude Hospital.
“We heard the impact, and then people were screaming. It was chaos,” one witness recounted. Another was in sheer horror over the motionless child.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. However, questions are already being raised about the safety measures in place at the popular event.
