Two vehicular accidents occurring within minutes of each other in the Vieux Fort area have left one woman unresponsive and multiple others injured.
The Saint Lucia Fire and Emergency Services (SLFES) Vieux Fort Unit first responded to a call for assistance at approximately 1:30 p.m. following a single-vehicle crash along the Sandy Beach, Vieux Fort.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle, driven by a female, ran off the roadway and collided with a tree. The female driver was reported unresponsive at the scene, while a male passenger sustained injuries. Both occupants were transported to a medical facility for further treatment. Their conditions remain unknown at this time.
Moments later, at approximately 1:37 p.m., emergency services were again dispatched to a separate incident along the Bean Field Highway, Vieux Fort, after a minibus collided with a sports utility vehicle (SUV).
The collision resulted in a mass casualty incident, with twelve individuals sustaining injuries, all reported to be minor. Of those injured, three were transported by SLFES, four refused medical treatment, and the remaining individuals left the scene prior to medical assessment.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved in either incident. Investigations into both accidents are ongoing.
