Two Injured in Sunday Morning Drive-By Shooting in New Village

Must Read

Two individuals have been injured in a drive-by shooting in New Village, Castries, shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, Saint Lucia Daily Post has confirmed.

Police remain on the scene as investigations continue into the brazen daylight attack, which has left residents visibly shaken. This latest incident comes against a backdrop of escalating gun violence in the community in recent months.

New Village has been a focal point of concern following the fatal shooting of a young man earlier this year. In what police suspect were reprisal attacks, two residents of nearby Wilton’s Yard, including a seven-months-pregnant woman, were subsequently killed.

During a recent press briefing, Police Commissioner Verne Garde revealed that a majority of homicide victims on the island were individuals already well-known to law enforcement for illegal activities.

While details of Sunday morning’s shooting remain limited, the attack has once again raised concerns over safety and security in Castries and across the island.
