CASTRIES, Saint Lucia – The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has announced two new candidates who will contest the next general elections. The announcement marks a significant shift in two key constituencies: Vieux Fort South and Castries South East.

Representing Vieux Fort South will be 39-year-old Danny Butcher, a teacher from Vieux South who holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. This will be his first time contesting a general election under the SLP banner.

For Castries South East, the party has selected 36-year-old Senator Lisa Jawahir. A communications business executive, Senator Jawahir holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Communication and has served in the Senate since 2020. She currently serves as the SLP’s Communications Director.

The party also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Members of Parliament, Hon. Kenny D. Anthony (Vieux Fort South) and Hon. Joachim Henry (Castries South East), for their years of service to both the party and their respective constituencies. Both MPs will not be contesting the upcoming general elections.

In its official statement, the SLP said it looks forward to building on its mission to “put people first” as it prepares for the 2026 polls. Party officials expressed confidence in the new candidates and their ability to continue serving the interests of the people of Saint Lucia.
