(Castries, Saint Lucia, December 24, 2024) – The demolition of the Customs and Excise Department Building on Jeremie Street, completed in the early hours of Saturday, 21 December and Sunday 22 December, marks the official launch of the highly anticipated port redevelopment project in Castries. This milestone signals the beginning of an ambitious journey aimed at modernizing and enhancing Saint Lucia’s cruise tourism facilities to
better position the island as a premier cruise tourism destination.
Demolition works were strategically undertaken during the night hours to minimize traffic disruption and ensure public safety. All key stakeholders and residents within the vicinity of the demolition site were informed well ahead of all scheduled demolition works in an effort to ensure a smooth and seamless process.
Saint Lucia Cruise Port will continue to collaborate with all key stakeholders and the general public as it seeks to undertake this critical infrastructural work which will improve Saint Lucia’s tourism product while preserving Saint Lucia’s cultural heritage.
This redevelopment ushers in a bold new era for Saint Lucia’s cruise tourism industry.
