The St. Lucia Athletics Association (SLAA) is pleased to announce the hosting of the 2026 National Juniors Track and Field Championship (CARIFTA Trials) scheduled for Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. daily at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

This highly anticipated national championship will bring together Saint Lucia’s most promising junior athletes as they compete for the opportunity to represent the island at the prestigious 2026 CARIFTA Games, which will be held from April 4th – 6th, 2026 in Grenada.

The two-day championship will feature top athletes from across the island competing in a full programme of track and field events, including sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, relays and jumps. Athletes will be seeking to meet the qualifying standards and secure selection to the national team, making the competition one of the most exciting events on the national athletics calendar.

President of the St. Lucia Athletics Association, Dora Henry noted that the championships serve as an important platform for identifying and preparing the next generation of Saint Lucian athletic talent.
“The National Juniors Championship is far more than a competition; it represents a critical launching pad for our young athletes as they rise from the national stage to the regional spotlight. The CARIFTA Games remain the Caribbean’s premier junior athletics event, and this championship provides our athletes with the opportunity to prove their talent, resilience and readiness to proudly represent Saint Lucia on one of the region’s most prestigious platforms.”
The Association also extends its appreciation to the technical officials volunteers, clubs and partners who continue to support the development of athletics in Saint Lucia and who will play a key role in the successful hosting of this national event.
