Four passengers and two pilots escaped unharmed after a helicopter made a precautionary emergency landing in a field in Choiseul on Monday afternoon.

According to St Lucia Helicopters, the aircraft encountered a technical issue shortly after departing from Hewanorra International Airport.

Manager Diana Paul explained that the helicopter was transporting four passengers to the Anse Chastanet Resort when the pilots detected the problem. “There were four passengers onboard headed to the Anse Chastanet Resort,” Paul said. “At no point were the passengers or pilots in danger.”

Paul noted that once the issue was identified, the pilots followed established safety procedures and executed a precautionary landing in a nearby field in Choiseul. “During that time the pilots carried out a precautionary landing in a nearby field. Our highest priority is safety,” she added.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. A secondary helicopter was later dispatched to the location to transport the passengers safely to their destination. Meanwhile, a technical team was sent to inspect the aircraft and address the mechanical issue.

Paul emphasized that the situation was handled in accordance with safety protocols and that the company maintains a strong safety record.

Despite the incident, she reassured that operations at St Lucia Helicopters remain safe and that the precautionary landing demonstrated the effectiveness of the company’s safety procedures.
