National Community Foundation and LUCELEC Launch Parental Empowerment Workshop Series with Support from Key Corporate Partners

Must Read

The National Community Foundation (NCF), in collaboration with the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC), is proud to announce the launch of National Parental Empowerment and Workforce Development Programme; a workshop series designed to strengthen families, enhance parental engagement, and support positive youth development across Saint Lucia.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment between NCF and LUCELEC to invest not only in infrastructure and economic growth, but in the social architecture of our nation, beginning with the family unit.

The workshop series will provide parents and guardians with practical tools, evidence-based strategies, and facilitate discussions on communication, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and strengthening resilience within the home.

LUCELEC’s partnership underscores its long-standing commitment to strategic investment in sustainable community development. By supporting initiatives that address root social challenges, LUCELEC continues to demonstrate leadership in nation-building beyond its core utility mandate.

The programme is further strengthened by the valued support of Republic Bank (EC) Limited, Massy Stores Saint Lucia, and the National Insurance Corporation (NIC). Each partner brings a critical dimension to this collaboration, financial empowerment, community accessibility, and long-term social protection, thereby reinforcing the collective responsibility required to foster stable households and empowered citizens.

The Parental Empowerment Workshop Series is also strategically aligned with the National Community Foundation’s longstanding Scholarship Programme, which has supported hundreds of students across Saint Lucia by removing financial barriers to secondary and tertiary education. Recognizing that student success is deeply connected to home stability and parental engagement, the Foundation has intentionally drawn initial participants for this six-week pilot from families within its scholarship network. This ensures that the intervention strengthens not only the student, but the household environment that sustains academic performance and personal development.

While the pilot cohort includes families connected to the NCF Scholarship Programme, the initiative is designed for national extension. Over the coming months, the workshop series will be rolled out more broadly to parents and guardians across targeted communities, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to inclusive and scalable social investment.

Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Director of the National Community Foundation emphasized that effective parenting is one of the most powerful social interventions available to any society. By equipping parents with skills and structured support, the Foundation seeks to contribute to measurable improvements in youth outcomes, academic performance, and community cohesion.

This initiative aligns with a broader vision shared by all partners: that national development must integrate social investment alongside economic growth. Strong families produce confident children. Confident children build stable communities. Stable communities drive sustainable national progress.

The six-week pilot Parental Empowerment Workshop commenced on Thursday, February 5, 2026, and will continue in phased expansion over the coming months.

The National Community Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to LUCELEC for its leadership partnership and to Republic Bank, Massy Stores Saint Lucia, and the National Insurance Corporation for their meaningful collaboration in advancing this important national initiative
