The STEP OUT Conference 2026 delivered a bold and transformative experience on Saturday as professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders and aspiring change-makers gathered under the empowering theme, “Communicate with I.M.P.A.C.T.”
Facilitated by certified image consultant and event founder Vernessa Henry-Long, the purpose-driven conference challenged participants to elevate their communication, leadership and personal branding through intentional action and presence.
The Communication and Etiquette segment, sponsored by CIBC Caribbean, opened with prayer by Albina Henry-Raphael, followed by an engaging interactive communication activity led by event host Sharlene Skinner. Henry-Long then delivered a commanding keynote address, breaking down the acronym I.M.P.A.C.T. — Influence, Mastery, Presence, Appearance, Confidence and Tact.

Participants were reminded that communication is never accidental but strategic. From posture and eye contact to tone, silence and personal presentation, attendees were encouraged to align their words and actions to build credibility and authority.
The high-energy atmosphere continued during a networking breakfast sponsored by Colcafe, Crystal Clear and Minute Maid, where participants began forming meaningful connections even before the formal sessions resumed.
A standout feature of the conference was a compelling address by Melissa Stacy Giddings, cultural curator and regional entertainment manager at Sandals Resorts. Speaking on the topic “Communicate Influence: Your Voice is a Leadership Tool,” Giddings emphasized that leadership is not defined by title but by visibility, values and vocal confidence. Her message underscored the power of intentional communication in shaping outcomes and relationships.
In a heartfelt testimonial, Thecla Fitz-Lewis, CEO of Lewis Management Consultancy Services, shared her journey of resilience and authentic leadership, encouraging participants to speak boldly from lived experience and embrace their personal narratives.
Interactive giveaways reinforced key learning moments throughout the day, while a lively Bingo-style icebreaker facilitated by Tracy Pilgrim George created an atmosphere of connection and ease among attendees.
Session Two, titled “The Power of Words, Silence & Presence,” again sponsored by CIBC Caribbean, explored the strategic role of silence, emotional intelligence, body language and presentation.
Participants examined how words can build bridges and how intentional silence can command respect and authority. The message resonated clearly: presence is power.
Structured speed networking, facilitated by Tracy Pilgrim George, provided practical opportunities for attendees to apply what they learned, fostering authentic connections beyond business cards.
Two high-impact panel discussions further deepened the experience.
The Personal Perspective panel, moderated by Sergin David and featuring Elijah Williams, Pontinus Clery, Louise Victor-Frederick and Nathalie Glitzernhirn-Augustin, examined communication within relationships, emotional intelligence and self-worth. Panelists offered candid insights on balancing vulnerability with strength and clarity.
The Business Perspective panel, moderated by Dr. Anthony Felicien and featuring Kim Florent, Ted Sandiford, Aretha Auguste, Yvonne Edwin and Michelle Anthony-Desir, explored executive presence, branding, negotiation and entrepreneurial communication.
Attendees walked away with practical strategies to refine their professional influence and elevate their personal brands.
The conference concluded with professional photography by Images by Louise, Digital Legacy and Davision Creative, followed by a celebratory group photo and a vibrant Sip & Shop Hour highlighting local brands and entrepreneurs.
Organizers described STEP OUT 2026 as more than a one-day event, but a movement focused on clarity, confidence, purpose and presence. Under the visionary leadership of Vernessa Henry-Long, the conference continues to redefine communication and leadership development across Saint Lucia, with aspirations of regional and global impact.
This year’s event was made possible through the support of presenting sponsor Lov3ly Makeup Artistry and Image Consultancy, alongside a wide network of corporate, media, style and participating sponsors.
As the conference message echoed throughout the day: when you communicate with impact, you do more than speak — you influence, elevate and transform.
