Two pedestrians — an adult woman and a three-year-old boy — were seriously injured after being struck by a motor vehicle in Corinth early Friday evening.
Emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 6:37 p.m., following reports of a vehicle colliding with two pedestrians. Both victims were transported to hospital, where they reportedly underwent surgery.
Medical sources indicate that the adult female sustained deep lacerations to both upper extremities and the back of the head, along with multiple abrasions across her body. The child suffered severe head trauma and abrasions about the body. Their current conditions have not yet been officially disclosed.
The incident comes just days after a major head-on collision in Vieux Fort, which claimed the life of a young motorist and left several passengers, as well as the driver of a minibus, injured.
These back-to-back incidents have heightened public concern surrounding road safety, particularly as they occur during an ongoing national road safety campaign aimed at reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities.
Authorities have not yet released details on the circumstances leading up to Friday’s collision in Corinth. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
