Family Appeals for Blood as Snake Bite Victim Fights for His Life
The family of Vernon Alfred is urgently appealing to the public for blood donations as a critically injured man continues to fight for his life following a traumatic snake attack at Thomazo.
Speaking with Saint Lucia Daily Post on Thursday morning, a relative confirmed that Alfred remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Owen King EU Hospital, where doctors are working to stabilise his condition.
The family says his situation remains critical, and medical teams have indicated that blood is urgently needed to support ongoing treatment.
Conflicting reports have emerged in the aftermath of the incident, with sources close to the matter suggesting that Alfred had succumbed following what may have been an accidental encounter with multiple snakes in what is believed to have been a nest.
The family is encouraging anyone who is able and willing to donate blood to do so as soon as possible, noting that every contribution could be lifesaving.
