CDF Announces New Grand Parade Format for 2025 Festival of Lights

Must Read

The Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) is pleased to unveil an exciting and expanded direction for this year’s Festival of Light, taking place on Friday, 12 December 2025. In a significant enhancement to the traditional celebration, the annual parade will follow a much longer and more vibrant route, offering the public several opportunities to enjoy the full spectacle.

This year’s grand parade will begin at 7:30 PM at the Vigie Playing Field (The Sab) and proceed along the waterfront, continuing down to the intersection of Jeremie Street and Peynier Street. The procession will then travel along Peynier Street, before turning right onto Micoud Street in front of the Cathedral. From there, it will continue with a right turn onto Laborie Street, looping back toward the intersection with Jeremie Street for a second pass along Peynier Street.

At this stage, the parade will divide into two concluding movements. The first will see the floats, cars, steelpan orchestra, bikers, and the music truck continue along Micoud Street before turning right onto Bridge Street and then right again onto the William Peter Boulevard, where this segment of the procession will conclude. The second movement will feature the drummers, dancers, masquerade performers, D’jab Ritual, fire-eaters, and the Yellow Train accompanied by the Yuletide Choir, who will proceed down Micoud Street, turn left onto Bourbon Street, and make their way into Derek Walcott Square to complete their performance.

This expanded and carefully planned route is designed to give spectators more vantage points from which to enjoy the colour and movement of the cultural procession. The public is strongly encouraged to line the streets from the Vigie Playing Field and experience this enhanced display as it unfolds through the city.

Following the parade, celebrations will continue at Derek Walcott Square, featuring the bursting of bamboo, a performance by a solo band, the distribution of free Christmas toys by Santa Claus, and the traditional Switching On of the Christmas Lights, officially ushering in the festive season.

The CDF remains committed to honouring Saint Lucia’s cherished cultural traditions while introducing fresh and exciting elements for families, communities, and visitors to enjoy. This year’s Festival of Light promises to be one of the most memorable celebrations yet.
