The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force have announced a major development in the ongoing investigation into a narcotics seizure reported in Castries on Saturday, November 15th, 2025. The operation, which led to the discovery of approximately EC$900,000 worth of illegal drugs concealed in three barrels, has now resulted in the arrest of a Bexon resident.

According to police, the suspect was apprehended early Friday morning during a targeted operation executed by the Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit. Officers also enforced an active commitment warrant against him, linked to an outstanding matter from 2022.

Inspector Shervon Matthieu of the Unit confirmed that Friday’s operation included coordinated searches of the suspect’s residence as well as his business place in Anse La Raye. “This was a direct follow-up to the joint operation that uncovered the three barrels containing foreign cannabis and cannabis resin,” he explained.

During Friday’s search, investigators recovered additional quantities of cannabis resin and compressed cannabis from the individual’s shop, further strengthening the case against him.

The 2022 matter tied to the commitment warrant stemmed from a police investigation at a home in the Inglewood area, where officers had recovered a substantial quantity of compressed marijuana along with a Glock 43 pistol loaded with nine rounds of ammunition. The suspect had been found guilty by a magistrate but failed to pay the court-ordered fine, prompting the issuance of the warrant.

Police say charges relating to the latest seizure are expected to be laid within 72 hours as the investigation continues to unfold.

Officers attached to the Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit have reiterated their commitment to dismantling organized criminal activity and removing illegal drugs and firearms from communities across Saint Lucia.
