A homicide investigation has been launched by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) following the discovery of a male body at Garrand, Babonneau, late Tuesday evening.
According to reports, officers attached to the Babonneau Police Station received a call around 11:00 p.m. alerting them to the discovery. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials found the lifeless body of a male individual bearing what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released however, scenes of crime officers processed the area while investigators commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Tuesday night’s discovery marks the second shooting-related incident within days. On Sunday, October 27th, a minibus driver was shot during an apparent robbery attempt at Morne Du Don, around 9:00 p.m.
The victim, who was initially listed in critical condition, has since been upgraded to stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
No arrests have yet been made in connection with either case. The RSLPF continues to urge members of the public with information that could assist investigators to come forward or contact the nearest police station or the Crime Hotline at 555 (anonymous).
Police investigations into both matters are ongoing.
