ECTEL Launches Scholarship Fund in Honour of Late Staff Member

Must Read

The Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) has launched the Pearl Allison Lake (P.A.L.) Scholarship Fund in memory of one of its longest-serving employees, Pearl Allison Lake, who passed away in June 2024 after 20 years of service.

The fund, established to honour Ms. Lake’s passion for children and her firm belief in the power of education, will support students making the critical transition from primary to secondary school.

“The P.A.L. Scholarship Fund is a testament to Ms. Lake’s enduring legacy and her commitment to education,” said ECTEL’s Managing Director, David A. Cox. “Through this initiative, ECTEL is not only celebrating her life but also ensuring that her passion continues to impact the lives of young people across our Contracting States.”

In its inaugural year, the scholarship will provide financial assistance to five students — one from each of ECTEL’s Contracting States: Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Each recipient will receive EC$1,500 to help with back-to-school supplies for the academic year.

The award will continue throughout secondary school for students who maintain at least a 70 percent average and uphold good character.

Applications are now open and must be submitted by 8 a.m. on October 16, 2025. Referees are also required to complete an online form by the same deadline. Application forms and a promotional video can be accessed via ECTEL’s official platforms.

ECTEL says the scholarship not only empowers young learners but also ensures that Ms. Lake’s legacy of compassion and service lives on across the region.
