Sammy Rallies Kings for High-Stakes Clash with Knight Riders: CPL Final Spot on the Line Tonight

Must Read

The Saint Lucia Kings will take on the Trinidad Knight Riders tonight at Providence Stadium in Guyana, with a place in the CPL final on the line.

Head Coach Darren Sammy, speaking ahead of the game, issued a rallying call to his squad and supporters, describing the contest as a decisive moment in the team’s campaign.

“Big one, Trinidad versus Saint Lucia Kings, a game that has been so competitive over the last few years, and a lot is at stake tonight,” Sammy said. “It’s go big or go home, and I don’t think we as the Kings are ready to go home as yet.”

Sammy urged his players to dig deep against the Knight Riders, a side he acknowledged as the most decorated in CPL history.

“It will take a moment of effort from every single person. Like I asked my guys last game, to reach higher, all of us have some extra within us, and we will need all of that tonight to come up against the Knight Riders,” he said. “Their team is full of experience, they have won the most titles in the CPL. We will need all of the Kings’ men to come out good tonight.”

The Kings defeated the Knight Riders in their most recent encounter but Sammy cautioned that past results carry no weight in the knockout stage.

“The last game we played against them we did win, but that doesn’t mean anything tonight. It’s about all hands on deck, playing the Kings’ way,” he said. “We’ve faltered a little along the journey, but tonight is the night where we can put all things right and book our place in the finals to play against Guyana.”

Sammy also acknowledged the role of supporters in lifting the team’s spirit.

“I’ve had so many messages from the fans wishing the guys well. Just pretend like you’re in the stadium, you could hear the fans cheering your Kings players. The energy, the passion, the pride that the Kings have in their performance, we need that tonight,” he said.

Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at Providence Stadium.
