Police recovered eight firearms, including parts of a rifle, during an operation at Barnard Hill on Thursday.
While details are still emerging, sources have confirmed that at least one individual, known to the public, has been detained in connection with the discovery.
The seizure comes amid a surge in violence across the island, with six unrelated homicides recorded this week alone. Authorities say the spike underscores the urgent need for stronger interventions.
At a press briefing on Friday, Minister for Crime Prevention Hon. Jeremiah Norbert vowed that government would stop at nothing to tackle the situation. He also issued a stern warning to those who facilitate criminal activity.
“If you aid, abet, or benefit from the proceeds of crime, whether as a family member, friend, or institution, you too will face the full brunt of the law,” Norbert said.
Investigations into the Barnard Hill seizure are ongoing.
