Police Commissioner Commends Officers After Major Drug and Gun Seizures: Arrests Expected Soon

(Castries – May 30, 2025) — The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has reaffirmed its commitment to national security following a week of successful law enforcement operations, including the seizure of 17 illegal firearms on Tuesday and a major cocaine bust on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Commissioner of Police Verne Garde confirmed that investigations into both high-profile operations are ongoing. While no arrests have yet been made, Garde expressed confidence that suspects will soon be in custody.

“The investigation is an ongoing investigation, and I have no doubt that there will be arrests and charges preferred in regards to the operation,” Commissioner Garde stated.

He praised the professionalism and dedication of the officers involved, emphasizing that such strategic interventions are part of the force’s broader mandate to ensure public safety.

“It’s exercise for the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. It’s nothing new,” Garde said. “The police force continues to work to ensure that we maintain a good national security environment.”

The Commissioner highlighted the high morale within the force, attributing the successful outcomes to officers’ commitment to their constitutional duties.

“We have a situation where officers are motivated, and they are dedicated to perform the responsibility given to them by the Constitution of Saint Lucia,” he added.

Garde also extended appreciation to all members of the RSLPF — both officers and civilian staff — for their ongoing contributions to public safety.

“I want to say thank you to all my staff, both civilian and officers, for the work that they have done over the respective period,” he said.

The police high command has assured the public that more targeted operations are on the horizon, as part of a broader crackdown on illegal weapons and narcotics across the island.
