Former Micoud North MP, Marius Wilson, has publicly thrown his support behind current parliamentary representative Jeremiah Norbert, marking a significant show of unity within the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) ahead of the next general election.

Wilson praised Norbert’s leadership and urged constituents to rally behind him for what he described as a “historic fight.”
“I want to take this opportunity publicly as the former representative of Micoud North to endorse brother Jeremiah Norbert,” Wilson declared. “And to point out to him the importance of his historic achievement for the people of Micoud North.”
Wilson, who served as MP for the constituency from 2001 to 2006 and was once the Leader of the Opposition under the United Workers Party (UWP), pledged his full support to Norbert. “I want to say, as I have said to him privately, but I want to do it publicly, that I am available and I’m at his disposal in fighting this fight, which is going to be a historic fight.”
Reaffirming his confidence in the Labour Party’s performance, Wilson stated, “This is an opportunity to consolidate. We must work hard as the people of Micoud North and rally behind this youthful representative that has been given an opportunity.”
The town hall meeting in Micoud North signals the Labour Party’s efforts to solidify its base in a traditionally UWP stronghold, particularly as attention begins to turn to the next electoral cycle. Norbert’s victory in 2021 marked a breakthrough for the SLP in the south-eastern constituency, and the party appears poised to defend that ground vigorously.
