Tourists Targeted in Trou Vollant Beach Attacks as Police Struggle with Limited Resources

Must Read

ROSEAU – Trou Vollant Beach, a once-tranquil escape near Roseau, is now the center of growing safety concerns following two alarming armed robbery incidents.

On Wednesday, police arrested four young males—ages 14, 15, 16, and 19—from the Coolietown area after they attempted to discard a bag containing weapons and masks as officers approached. The minors were later released into the custody of their parents due to their age. Law enforcement limitations continue to remain a problem but efforts may be underway to revisit the Special Police Constable/Beach Ranger initiative to augment police resources.

Shortly after the first attack, an elderly couple from Virginia was robbed at machete-point while walking to the beach. The attackers forced them to hand over $1,000 USD before fleeing. The shaken tourists reported the incident to fellow guests at the villa where they were staying Villa and attempted to file a report at the Marigot Police Station..

With crime threatening the safety of both residents and visitors, urgent action is needed. Authorities must ramp up patrols, but with a shortage of staff and vehicles, pressure is mounting on the government to allocate more resources before the situation escalates further.
