VIEUX FORT, SAINT LUCIA – The much-anticipated St. Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project is making significant strides, with key sections of the facility approaching completion. On a recent site visit, members of the St. Jude Hospital Board of Directors and the Project Steering Committee toured the hospital grounds in Augier, Vieux Fort, to assess progress and receive critical updates from the construction team.
Launched in November 2022, the reconstruction effort is advancing rapidly, with the dialysis, physiotherapy, and west wings already 90% complete. Construction continues on the hospital’s critical east and surgical wings, which will play a pivotal role in transforming the facility into a modern, state-of-the-art medical center.

During the site visit, the project’s contractor, Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd. (CIE Ltd.), provided a comprehensive update on the construction status. Representatives assured stakeholders that the physiotherapy and dialysis wings—two of the most essential components of the hospital—are in their final stages and are expected to be completed in the coming months.
Additionally, work on the west, east, and surgical wings is progressing steadily. These areas will expand patient capacity and enhance the quality of healthcare services across Saint Lucia, particularly in the island’s southern region.

CIE Ltd., led by contractor Rayneau Gajadhar, reaffirmed its commitment to delivering the project on schedule. In a previous interview, Gajadhar confidently stated, “Whatever I start, I finish,” emphasizing the company’s dedication to seeing the hospital completed without delays.
Project supervisor Viney Kulkarni echoed this sentiment, expressing optimism about the hospital’s progress. Meanwhile, Caribbean Consultancy Engineering Ltd. (CCE Ltd.), the project’s consulting firm, continues to oversee design accuracy, quality control, and compliance with government standards.
CCE Ltd. Project Manager Barry Jonas emphasized the importance of transparency, frequent meetings, and stakeholder engagement in ensuring the hospital’s timely and efficient delivery.
A Game-Changer for Healthcare in Saint Lucia
The St. Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project stands as a cornerstone of Saint Lucia’s healthcare development. Once completed, the hospital will offer cutting-edge medical services, significantly improving patient care, accessibility, and emergency response capabilities for residents of the south.

For the St. Jude Hospital Board of Directors and the Project Steering Committee, this site visit reinforced confidence in the project’s trajectory. As Saint Lucia looks toward the future, the hospital’s progress represents a monumental step toward strengthening the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
With construction momentum strong and key phases nearing completion, the promise of a fully functional, modern St. Jude Hospital is closer than ever.
