Castries, Saint Lucia – The newest recruits of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) are already making their presence felt on the streets, bolstering city patrols and reinforcing law enforcement efforts well beyond the festive season.
The increased police presence, which was particularly noticeable during the holiday period, has remained in effect as businesses and schools resume normal operations following the Christmas and New Year festivities. Officers continue to maintain a stronghold in key areas, ensuring public safety and adherence to the law.
However, while the heightened enforcement has been welcomed by many, it has not been without friction. On Tuesday afternoon, a motorist found himself at odds with officers on Jeremie Street after being issued a ticket for illegal parking. Witnesses say the man voiced strong objections to the citation, drawing the attention of passersby at the busy intersection. Despite his protests, police remained firm in their decision, underscoring their commitment to upholding traffic laws.
Sources within the RSLPF indicate that while the city has been the primary focus for deploying the new recruits, this additional manpower may soon be redistributed to police stations across the island to strengthen law enforcement efforts in other communities.
With an evident push to tighten security and enforce the law more stringently, residents can expect continued vigilance from the police force as they work to maintain order in the new year.
